Bone Broth

Backed by Flo Mason

BENEFITS

Bone broth is an ancient superfood used to heal your dog's gut and support their immune system. It is loaded with amino acids and gut-healing collagen. Bone broth is rich in minerals that help repair and seal the gut lining, support joint and skin health, and replenish electrolytes. It’s especially helpful during GI flares, post-surgery recovery, or after antibiotic use. Bone broth is recommended for dry fed dogs especially to provide optimum hydration and reduce inflammation in the body.

HOW TO SERVE

  1. Make bone broth at home or purchase pet-safe bone broth with no onions, garlic, or added salt.
    • The quality of ingredients matter. Sourcing organic bones from grass-fed, grass-finished, and pasture-raised sources whenever possible will reduce exposure to glyphosate, a common pesticide and ensure highest quality end result due to animals living better, healthier lives.
  2. Simmer meaty bones along with other food items of your choice like vegetables, herbs, or mushrooms like brussels sprouts, carrots, celery, thyme, and shiitake mushrooms with apple cider vinegar for 12–24 hours, then strain.
  3. Cool completely before serving. Can also freeze into cubes for daily use.

warning

IMPORTANT

Avoid onions as they are toxic to dogs.

Hot broth can burn your dog's mouth.

If your dog is histamine-sensitive or in a flare, introduce slowly or use meat broth (shorter cooked) instead of long-cooked bone broth.
